East Coast Regional Sales Manager

Under limited supervision, target, promote and sell organizational products intended for customers in the filtration
industry. Manage assigned territory to sustain existing clients and develop relationships with new customers to achieve Company and individual sales objectives. Provide quality consultative service, facilitate and integrate business staff and utilize resources to meet customer needs with products and/or services. Develop sales strategies and forecasts volume for industrial and municipal base, project and process separation business lines; accountable for attaining revenue sales objectives in assigned territory.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with senior management to develop sales strategies, revenue objectives, and individual business objectives, including executing sales strategies in the assigned territory.
  • Contacts, negotiates, and establishes sales contracts with customers, addressing pricing, payment terms, and delivery for new sales and replacement business within the region of operation.
  • Develops and executes business opportunities, offering limited technical support through membrane design projections using company software, adhering to design guidelines, and facilitating field troubleshooting and start-up partnerships.
  • Manages the opportunity pipeline via Salesforce and provides timely forecasts for the assigned territory.
  • Oversees the strategic partner network responsible for selling specific product lines, contributing to municipal and other market share initiatives.
  • Builds and maintains relationships at top levels of key accounts, including end-users, OEMs, engineering firms, consultants, key municipalities, and government agencies, aligning with organizational business objectives.
  • Participates in new product recommendations and introductions to enhance market share; collaborates with marketing efforts for new technologies.
  • Analyzes the competitive market, assessing competitors' sales efforts, pricing strategies, new product introductions, and staff changes.
  • Ensures a consistent sales approach throughout the assigned territory; develops and implements a Sales rebate program to increase base business revenue.
  • Identifies and qualifies new sales opportunities with prospective customers to meet assigned sales goals, which may involve cold calling.
  • Collaborates with the Sales & Marketing team at trade shows, conferences, and exhibits to generate new business.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field; and a minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in related sales; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Essential market knowledge of the purification and separation space, including key markets, customers, applications, and market trends.
  • Essential technical knowledge of Reverse Osmosis (RO) and other membrane processes specific to the purification and separation space.
  • Desirable Knowledge/Skills

  • Working knowledge of chemical engineering concepts, such as water chemistry, fluid flow, water pressure, and/or process separation applications like Dairy, Pharma, Food & Beverage, etc.
  • Proven success in a relationship-driven business, demonstrated by a consistent sales record of three years or more.
  • Ability to translate complex water industry or scientific information into key sales and marketing messages for customers and internal groups of diverse native languages, cultures, and technical abilities.
  • Strong presentation, persuasion, and deal-closing skills.
  • Ability to identify sales opportunities and take action in accordance with Nitto Denko’s Business Conduct Guidelines and ethical standards.
  • Familiarity with the organization's product lines, at a level that allows effective description of the features and benefits of the company's products and/or services.
  • Capability to work independently and productively in remote locations with minimal supervision.
  • Fluency in 1 or more major languages spoken by customers in the assigned region if the assigned territory is outside of the USA.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, JD Edwards, and CRM software (Salesforce.com preferred).
  • Team player willing to go above and beyond to assist others.
  • Establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships based on mutual trust, respect, and cooperation with managers, executives, co-workers, customers, and/or vendors.
  • Quick adaptation to changes in priorities, circumstances, and direction.
  • Ability to accommodate up to 70% travel by plane, train, and/or automobile, including overnight stays depending on the assigned sales territory.
  • Weekend and evening hours may be required based on business needs.
  • Bilingual or multi-lingual in languages frequently used within the Nitto Group of Companies by employees and/or customers.
  • Work Environment

  • The employee must be able and willing to work in a range of environments, including industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and water treatment plants. During visits to these facilities, the employee may experience periodic exposures to varying temperatures, occasional exposure to noise levels above 85 decibels, gas/fumes/mists, and chemicals or hazardous materials while using personal protective equipment as required.
  • This position requires regular use of a laptop, PC, or computer terminal, and may involve constant sitting (50-80% of the workday).
  • Must be capable of standing, walking, and climbing stairs occasionally (10-25% of the workday).
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry items weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Occasional use of hands and arms to reach (10-25% of workday).
  • Capability to grasp objects with a force of up to 50 pounds.
