CHALLENGE

GridUnity is a platform-as-a-service energy analytics company that accelerates the interconnection and optimisation of distributed energy resources such as solar, wind, storage, and other smart grid technologies.

GridUnity reached out to Pangea Talent Solutions in 2024 looking to hire a senior account executive located on the East Coast. They had previously used an alternative recruitment agency but were not successful in finding the right quality of candidates. As a startup, GridUnity had a limited budget and constrained resources for its recruitment efforts so really needed Pangea to be able find top-tier talent quickly, and efficiently. It was important that Pangea were able to find a senior account executive as GridUnity have plans to hire further in Q4, 2024. The ideal candidate needed to possess industry-specific knowledge and experience selling enterprise software to utility IOUs. They also had to be adaptable to a startup environment where the team handles a mix of responsibilities.

Anum Ali, Lead Consultant at Pangea, is a trusted digital recruiter with a strong reputation for delivering specialised recruitment services within the energy market. Anum was able to work closely with Kelly, who have known each other for a number of years, indeed, placing Kelly in a previous role. 

Anum is passionate about staying connected with previous candidates, ensuring Pangea are always front of mind when those candidates go on to be hiring themselves. The brief was to find a candidate who was excited to work in a small startup where they would need to be flexible and 
agile and where many internal processes were not solidified. The ideal candidate needed an entrepreneur skill set and be looking for a role where a highest salary was not the most desired reason to move. As always, Anum managed the recruitment process end to end for GridUnity: coordinating interviews, providing detailed candidate profiles, and facilitating informed decision-making. Within three days Anum was able to present a shortlist of seven candidates, one of whom stood out due to his relevant experience in startup environments and selling enterprise software to utility IOUs.
