Pangea was asked to support the hiring of critical roles across all departments including Business Development, Marketing, Project Delivery, Software Engineering, Product Development & Hardware Engineering and Project Management. The volume and timeline were the deciding factor to use Pangea
exclusively. The team helped with salary information throughout the RPO. To ensure on-time delivery and remain at the forefront of their market, they needed to recruit a substantial workforce – 100 to 115 new hires in the course of 12 months, covering levels from technician to VP.
SOLUTION
Recognising the urgency and scope of Wärtsilä’s needs, Ollie proposed an RPO (Recruitment Process Outsourcing) solution. This 12-month commitment began in January 2022 when Pangea began working with the existing internal HR & TA team. With a clear understanding of upcoming vacancies, Pangea initiated pre-emptive headhunting campaigns, ensuring a pipeline of qualified candidates.
A team of Pangea consultants were assigned to specific recruitment areas, leveraging their specialised knowledge. Ollie focused on high-level managerial roles whilst her colleagues focused on technical and engineering roles, sales and business development, and proposal specialists. Whilst resourcing for the
most suitable candidates in the market, Ollie's support included guiding Wärtsilä on interview practices, salary and benefits expectations and provided with the market insights to ensure Wartsila was positioned competitively in the market.

By focusing on quality over quantity, Pangea presented an average of 3 CVs per role, significantly reducing Wärtsilä’s time spent filtering through unqualified applicants and the quality of candidates resulted in an 85% interview conversion rate. Due to the size of the projects and the number of candidates sourced and placed within Wärtsilä, the data gathered continues to be used, providing valuable benchmarks on market trends, salary and candidate preferences, within the energy storage sector. This data continues to support new Pangea clients operating in this market.
