We are partnering with a merchant that specializes in Energy Trading (i.e. Power, Gas, Oil, Ags).
They have an existing Weather desk of seasoned Trading Meteorologists and expanding the desk prioritizing more up-to-date and actionable weather analysis. Looking for a Weather Analyst to balance the existing team with mathematical, data science and/or quantitative abilities.
Day to day / responsibilities:
They have an existing Weather desk of seasoned Trading Meteorologists and expanding the desk prioritizing more up-to-date and actionable weather analysis. Looking for a Weather Analyst to balance the existing team with mathematical, data science and/or quantitative abilities.
Day to day / responsibilities:
- Reading and analyzing weather charts
- Partnering with Traders and Desk Analysts interpreting those weather charts and current forecasts into actionable insights (up-to-date and actionable weather analysis)
- Big focus on developing models and tools that better prepare the firm for changing conditions (i.e. Python, C++, Matlab, R, C#).
- Tool or model building, performing simulations beyond the weather charts.
- MS/PhD in relevant discipline i.e. Meteorology, atmospheric science, oceanography
- Coding and automation abilities (data science/ML). Open to language/tooling. Ability to develop models and tools
- Candidates with 0-5 years of experience outside of academia.
- Experience across Energy Trading. They can teach the industry experience.
- Opportunity for someone out of academia, or with no Energy trading experience to be able to pivot into a commercial trading environment and learn about Energy fundamentals from seasoned Mets/Traders.
